About Me
I like to work with people, in service to my community. My educational background is in Sociology and I have a Masters in Public Administration. I have worked in the nonprofit, community health, international development and government sectors. I have held a variety of roles from visiting consultant to senior data analyst; in each role I worked to support business process improvement using data and effective change management.
Here’s JaneLee fresh out of college, ready to take on the world.
Why career coaching?
When I completed my Sociology undergrad degree, I distinctly remember feeling both privately frustrated with the lack of career guidance I received, and outwardly defensive that my academic choices would open numerous career paths. I just didn't know what they were! One conversation near the end of my college days changed my trajectory, when a counselor recommended that I look into the AmeriCorps VISTA program. Flash forward to the end of my year of public service with AmeriCorps VISTA; I was more confident than a fresh grad, but I still felt wholly unprepared to get a “real job.” At every plateau I found myself, as my contract and temp jobs reached their end, I would feel uncertain of the next steps. I sought help from my family members, past professors and supervisors, and my peers who seemed a little more put together than I did.
Over the past decade I have collected a treasure trove of job search tips and tricks, confidence boosting perspectives, and networking skills that help me feel prepared for any career changes that come my way. I am interested in sharing them with others.
What brings me joy?
I love to travel and I am particularly fond of Latin America. I love to speak Spanish/ me encanta hablar español, which I learned through many years of classes and living in Colombia. I love exploring new cities, dancing, and meeting new people.
